Important Legal Notice

These Wardrobe Grant Program Policies & Applicant Terms of Participation govern applications submitted to The Next Chapter Collective for wardrobe grant assistance. By submitting an application, each applicant acknowledges that she has read, understands, and agrees to these policies.

These policies are intended to protect applicants, recipients, donors, staff, board members, and The Next Chapter Collective as an organization. They are also intended to create a fair, consistent, respectful, and transparent process for providing charitable wardrobe assistance.

The Next Chapter Collective is a charitable organization and does not provide legal, tax, medical, financial, employment, housing, counseling, or mental health advice. Nothing on the website, in the application, in these policies, or in any communication from The Next Chapter Collective should be interpreted as professional advice.

Applicants are encouraged to consult appropriate professionals regarding their own legal, tax, financial, medical, employment, or personal circumstances.

Purpose of the Wardrobe Grant Program

The Next Chapter Collective exists to support women who are navigating meaningful life transitions and who may benefit from access to clothing, styling support, and confidence-building resources.

The Wardrobe Grant Program is designed to provide selected recipients with a curated wardrobe package intended to help support their next chapter. This may include preparation for employment, career advancement, education, interviews, professional events, personal rebuilding, family transition, recovery from hardship, or other circumstances determined by The Next Chapter Collective to align with its charitable mission.

Recipients may receive a curated wardrobe package valued at up to $2,500. Wardrobe grants are customized to each recipient’s individual needs and may include professional attire, casual clothing, footwear, outerwear, and accessories designed to support her next chapter.

Wardrobe grants may include new, new-with-tags, like-new, or gently loved clothing, shoes, outerwear, and accessories. Luxury handbags, fine jewelry, cash equivalents, prepaid cards, gift cards, and monetary substitutes are excluded unless specifically approved by The Next Chapter Collective in writing.

Grant values, item quantities, item categories, timing, and selections vary based on recipient needs, available inventory, donor funding, organizational resources, volunteer availability, and overall program capacity. The Next Chapter Collective reserves the right to determine applicant eligibility, grant amount, item selection, timing of awards, and all other program details in its sole discretion.

No Guarantee of Assistance

Submitting an application does not guarantee that an applicant will receive assistance.

The Wardrobe Grant Program is charitable in nature and depends on available funding, donated inventory, community support, staffing, and operational capacity. The Next Chapter Collective may approve, deny, defer, waitlist, or close applications at any time.

No applicant has a legal, contractual, financial, or property right to receive a wardrobe grant. The application process does not create an entitlement, promise, guarantee, or obligation by The Next Chapter Collective to provide assistance.

The Next Chapter Collective may limit the number of recipients selected during any application period. The organization may also pause or discontinue applications without prior notice.

Applicant Eligibility

Applicants must meet the eligibility standards established by The Next Chapter Collective at the time of application review.

Eligibility may include, but is not limited to, the applicant’s current life circumstances, demonstrated need, alignment with the mission of the organization, geographic service area, availability for appointments, completion of required application materials, and ability to participate respectfully in the program.

The Next Chapter Collective may request additional information to better understand an applicant’s circumstances. This may include follow-up questions, a phone call, email communication, documentation, referral information, or confirmation from a community partner.

The organization reserves the right to modify eligibility standards at any time. Eligibility standards may change as the organization grows, expands services, receives funding, changes inventory, or adjusts program priorities.

Accuracy of Application Information

Applicants are responsible for submitting truthful, complete, and accurate information.

By submitting an application, each applicant certifies that all information provided is accurate to the best of her knowledge. This includes personal information, contact information, sizing information, wardrobe needs, life circumstances, referral details, and any supporting information submitted to the organization.

The Next Chapter Collective reserves the right to deny or remove an applicant from consideration if information appears false, misleading, incomplete, fraudulent, inconsistent, or unverifiable.

Providing false or misleading information may result in denial of assistance, removal from current consideration, ineligibility for future programs, or other action deemed appropriate by The Next Chapter Collective.

Application Review Process

Applications are reviewed by authorized representatives of The Next Chapter Collective. This may include board members, employees, advisors, or committee members designated by the organization.

The review process may consider several factors, including the applicant’s stated needs, current life transition, urgency, available inventory, funding, program capacity, location, appointment availability, and alignment with the charitable mission of the organization.

The Next Chapter Collective may prioritize applicants based on available resources and the purpose of the program. The organization is not required to review applications in the exact order received.

The organization is not obligated to provide detailed explanations regarding approval, denial, deferral, or prioritization decisions. All application decisions are final unless the organization voluntarily creates a reconsideration process.

Wardrobe Grant Value

The stated value of a wardrobe grant is an estimated value only. A recipient may receive a wardrobe package valued at up to $2,500, but not every recipient will receive the maximum amount.

The final value of each wardrobe grant is determined by The Next Chapter Collective based on available inventory, recipient needs, donated goods, retail value estimates, organizational funding, and program discretion.

The estimated value of donated or gently loved items may be based on original retail value, current resale value, comparable market value, condition, brand, category, or other reasonable valuation methods selected by the organization.

A wardrobe grant is not a cash grant. The estimated value does not create a right to receive cash, store credit, gift cards, reimbursement, or substitute items.

No Cash Value or Transferability

Wardrobe grants have no cash value and are not redeemable for money.

Recipients may not exchange, sell, assign, transfer, barter, trade, return, or convert wardrobe grant items into cash, gift cards, store credit, vouchers, or other monetary equivalents.

Wardrobe grant items are selected for the personal use of the recipient. Any attempt to misuse, resell, or transfer awarded items may result in disqualification from future programs.

The Next Chapter Collective reserves the right to deny future assistance to any recipient who misuses the program or acts in a way inconsistent with the charitable purpose of the organization.

Clothing Selection and Styling Discretion

Wardrobe grants are curated based on the recipient’s stated needs, available inventory, sizing, lifestyle, professional goals, and the judgment of The Next Chapter Collective.

The organization may consider recipient preferences, including preferred colors, styles, sizes, modesty considerations, professional needs, comfort level, and wardrobe goals. However, The Next Chapter Collective cannot guarantee specific brands, designers, colors, styles, quantities, sizes, or item categories.

The final selection of all clothing, shoes, outerwear, handbags, and accessories remains within the sole discretion of The Next Chapter Collective.

Inventory Availability

The Wardrobe Grant Program relies in part on donated, purchased, and community-supported inventory. Inventory changes frequently and may be limited.

Because inventory is not guaranteed, The Next Chapter Collective cannot promise that every recipient will receive the same type, quantity, brand, quality, style, or value of items.

Images, examples, descriptions, or stories shown on the website, social media, printed materials, fundraising materials, or donor communications are illustrative only and do not guarantee that future recipients will receive similar items.

Condition of Items

Wardrobe grants may include new, new-with-tags, like-new, previously owned, donated, or gently loved items.

The Next Chapter Collective makes reasonable efforts to review items before distribution. However, items are provided as available and without warranties of any kind.

The organization does not guarantee that items will be free from ordinary wear, manufacturer defects, allergens, fragrances, cosmetic imperfections, fabric sensitivities, prior alterations, or other conditions common to donated or previously owned clothing.

Recipients are responsible for inspecting items before use and determining whether items are suitable for their own needs.

Sizing, Fit, and Alterations

Applicants are responsible for providing accurate sizing information.

The Next Chapter Collective will make reasonable efforts to provide clothing that aligns with the sizing information submitted. However, sizing varies widely by brand, manufacturer, fabric, age of garment, style, and prior wear.

The organization does not guarantee perfect fit. Some items may require alterations, tailoring, cleaning, steaming, repairs, or adjustments.

Unless expressly approved in writing, The Next Chapter Collective is not responsible for alteration costs, tailoring costs, cleaning costs, repair costs, replacement costs, or transportation costs.

Recipient Responsibilities

Recipients are expected to participate honestly, respectfully, and responsibly.

Recipients must communicate with the organization in a timely manner, attend scheduled appointments when applicable, provide accurate sizing and contact information, notify the organization of changes, and treat staff, board members, donors, and other participants with dignity and respect.

The Next Chapter Collective reserves the right to deny, postpone, cancel, or discontinue assistance if a recipient is disrespectful, threatening, harassing, dishonest, repeatedly unavailable, or otherwise unable to participate appropriately in the program.

Appointments and Scheduling

Wardrobe appointments, styling sessions, pickup appointments, or delivery arrangements may be scheduled at the discretion of The Next Chapter Collective.

Appointments may depend on staff availability, store hours, inventory preparation, weather, transportation, funding, and other operational needs.

The organization may reschedule, postpone, or cancel appointments when necessary. Recipients are expected to provide reasonable notice if they are unable to attend a scheduled appointment.

Failure to attend scheduled appointments without notice may result in removal from the program or deferral to a future application period.

Transportation and Travel

Unless specifically stated in writing, recipients are responsible for their own transportation to and from appointments, fittings, pickups, or events.

The Next Chapter Collective is not responsible for transportation costs, rideshare expenses, fuel, parking, lodging, childcare, missed wages, or other costs associated with participation.

Participation in any appointment or event is voluntary, and recipients assume responsibility for their own travel decisions.

Health, Safety, and Personal Responsibility

Recipients acknowledge that clothing, shoes, accessories, and donated goods may contain materials, fabrics, metals, dyes, fragrances, detergents, residues, or other substances that may cause sensitivities or reactions in some individuals.

Recipients are responsible for reviewing items before use and deciding whether they are appropriate for their own health, comfort, and personal circumstances.

The Next Chapter Collective is not responsible for allergic reactions, skin sensitivities, discomfort, injuries, illness, dissatisfaction, or other issues arising from the use of awarded items, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Recipient privacy is a core organizational value of The Next Chapter Collective.

The organization recognizes that applicants may share sensitive personal stories involving employment loss, financial hardship, domestic changes, family transitions, health-related challenges, emotional hardship, housing instability, educational goals, or other deeply personal circumstances.

The Next Chapter Collective will make reasonable efforts to protect applicant and recipient information. Access to application materials may be limited to authorized board members, employees, advisors, service providers, or review committee members who need access to administer the program.

The organization will not sell applicant information. The organization will not publicly disclose an applicant’s name, image, story, identifying details, or application information without written permission.

Although The Next Chapter Collective uses reasonable safeguards, no digital system, email transmission, website platform, database, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. By submitting an application, applicants acknowledge this limitation.

Applicant Stories and Sensitive Information

Applicants may choose to share personal stories as part of the application process. These stories may help The Next Chapter Collective understand the applicant’s needs and determine whether the program is a good fit.

Applicants should only share information they are comfortable providing. The organization does not require applicants to disclose unnecessary medical, legal, financial, or traumatic details beyond what is needed to evaluate the application.

The Next Chapter Collective may summarize application circumstances internally for review, grant administration, impact tracking, or board reporting. Whenever possible, identifying information should be minimized.

Public Storytelling, Testimonials, and Media

Recipients are never required to publicly share their name, image, story, testimonial, photograph, or video in order to receive assistance.

The Next Chapter Collective will not share a recipient’s name, image, story, likeness, testimonial, or identifying details for marketing, fundraising, social media, press, website, donor updates, or public relations purposes without separate written permission.

Recipients may choose to participate in public storytelling, anonymous storytelling, partial storytelling, or no storytelling at all.

Declining media participation will not affect eligibility, selection, grant value, or future consideration.

Anonymous Storytelling

The Next Chapter Collective may offer recipients the option to share their story anonymously.

Anonymous storytelling may include general, non-identifying information about how the program helped a recipient. The organization should avoid details that could reasonably identify the recipient, especially in small communities.

Recipients may request that their story remain private, partially anonymous, or fully anonymous. The organization should honor those requests whenever reasonably possible.

Media Release Must Be Separate

Any media release, photo release, video release, testimonial release, or publicity consent should be separate from the main application.

A recipient’s decision to sign or decline a media release must be voluntary. The organization should not pressure recipients to participate in marketing, photography, storytelling, fundraising, or publicity.

A recipient may receive assistance even if she declines all publicity.

Donated Goods and Third-Party Items

Some wardrobe grant items may be donated by individuals, businesses, boutiques, resale partners, community members, or other third parties.

The Next Chapter Collective does not manufacture the items it distributes and does not control the original production, materials, prior handling, authenticity, care history, or storage conditions of donated goods.

The organization makes reasonable efforts to provide suitable items but does not provide warranties regarding donated goods.

Brand Names and Designer Items

The Next Chapter Collective may receive or distribute items from various brands or designers.

Unless expressly stated, The Next Chapter Collective is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or officially connected to any brand, designer, manufacturer, retailer, or trademark owner whose products may appear in donated inventory, styling examples, website content, or social media.

All brand names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Luxury Items and Exclusions

Luxury handbags, fine jewelry, designer collectibles, cash equivalents, gift cards, and similar high-value items are generally excluded from standard wardrobe grants unless specifically approved by The Next Chapter Collective.

The organization may establish internal guidelines regarding luxury items, high-value donations, authenticity review, resale use, charitable distribution, or restricted use of certain items.

The organization reserves the right to determine whether any particular item is appropriate for inclusion in a wardrobe grant.

Taxes for Recipients

Wardrobe grants are intended as charitable assistance. The Next Chapter Collective does not provide tax advice.

Recipients are solely responsible for consulting a qualified tax professional regarding any personal tax questions related to receiving charitable assistance.

The organization makes no representation regarding whether a wardrobe grant creates any tax obligation for a recipient.

Employment, Interview, and Opportunity Disclaimer

The Wardrobe Grant Program is intended to provide clothing and confidence-building resources. It does not guarantee employment, interviews, promotions, job offers, admission to educational programs, housing, financial improvement, or any specific outcome.

The Next Chapter Collective may provide clothing that supports a recipient’s personal or professional goals, but the organization is not responsible for decisions made by employers, schools, agencies, landlords, courts, government programs, or other third parties.

No Professional Advice

The Next Chapter Collective does not provide legal, tax, financial, medical, mental health, career counseling, crisis intervention, domestic violence counseling, or employment placement services.

Any general encouragement, styling guidance, wardrobe suggestions, or resource referrals are provided for charitable and informational purposes only.

Applicants and recipients should seek appropriate professional guidance for their individual circumstances.

Referrals and Community Partners

The Next Chapter Collective may receive referrals from community organizations, schools, shelters, churches, nonprofits, employers, government agencies, counselors, or other partners.

A referral does not guarantee approval.

The organization may communicate with referral partners when authorized or when necessary to administer the program. Applicants should understand that referral-based communication may involve sharing limited information related to eligibility, scheduling, or program participation.

Conflicts of Interest

The Next Chapter Collective is committed to fair and ethical decision-making.

Board members, employees, volunteers, or committee members involved in reviewing applications should disclose any personal, financial, family, employment, or other relationship that could create an actual or perceived conflict of interest.

The organization may require individuals with conflicts to remove themselves from discussion, review, or voting related to a particular application.

Non-Discrimination

The Next Chapter Collective is committed to treating applicants and recipients with dignity, fairness, and respect.

The organization intends to administer its programs in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Selection decisions should be based on mission alignment, demonstrated need, program capacity, eligibility requirements, and available resources, not unlawful discrimination.

Right to Refuse or Discontinue Assistance

The Next Chapter Collective reserves the right to refuse, suspend, discontinue, or revoke assistance when necessary to protect the organization, applicants, recipients, staff, donors, or the integrity of the program.

Reasons may include, but are not limited to, fraud, harassment, threats, abusive behavior, repeated missed appointments, false statements, misuse of awarded items, violation of policies, safety concerns, or conduct inconsistent with the mission of the organization.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Next Chapter Collective, its board members, officers, employees, donors, partners, contractors, affiliates, and representatives shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, emotional distress, financial, reputational, or other damages arising from application submission, program participation, denial of assistance, delay in assistance, receipt of items, use of items, appointment participation, website use, communications, or interactions with the organization.

This limitation applies regardless of whether the claim is based on contract, negligence, tort, statute, strict liability, or any other legal theory, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Release of Claims

By accepting wardrobe grant items or participating in program activities, recipients release The Next Chapter Collective, its board members, officers, employees, donors, partners, contractors, affiliates, and representatives from claims arising out of or related to participation in the Wardrobe Grant Program, except where such release is prohibited by law.

This release includes claims related to item condition, fit, use, allergic reactions, dissatisfaction, scheduling delays, appointment participation, donated goods, third-party products, and other program-related matters.

Indemnification

Applicants and recipients agree to hold harmless and indemnify The Next Chapter Collective, its board members, officers, employees, volunteers, donors, partners, contractors, affiliates, and representatives from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from false information submitted by the applicant, misuse of awarded items, violation of these policies, unauthorized resale or transfer of items, or harmful conduct toward the organization or others.

Fraud Prevention

The Next Chapter Collective reserves the right to take reasonable steps to prevent fraud, misuse, or abuse of the Wardrobe Grant Program.

This may include verifying applicant information, requesting additional documentation, contacting referral sources, limiting repeat applications, maintaining internal records, or denying future participation.

The organization may report suspected fraud or unlawful conduct to appropriate authorities when necessary or legally required.

Program Changes

The Next Chapter Collective reserves the sole discretion to modify, suspend, discontinue, expand, reduce, or restructure the Wardrobe Grant Program at any time.

The organization may change eligibility standards, application requirements, grant values, recipient selection procedures, inventory guidelines, appointment processes, geographic service areas, or these policies without prior notice.

The most current version of these policies published by The Next Chapter Collective will govern applications submitted after the effective date of that version.

Funding and Operational Limitations

The Wardrobe Grant Program depends on charitable donations, donor funding, resale partnerships, community support, inventory availability, volunteer support, and organizational capacity.

The Next Chapter Collective may reduce or pause assistance if funding, inventory, staffing, volunteers, donor support, or operational resources become limited.

The organization is not liable for delays, cancellations, reduced grant values, or inability to provide assistance due to circumstances beyond its control.

Force Majeure

The Next Chapter Collective shall not be liable for delays, cancellations, interruptions, or failure to perform caused by events beyond its reasonable control.

Such events may include severe weather, natural disasters, illness, public health emergencies, power outages, technology failures, cyber incidents, supply shortages, loss of funding, donor cancellations, staffing shortages, government orders, civil unrest, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Website Use

Applicants may use The Next Chapter Collective website for lawful, personal, and charitable purposes only.

Applicants may not misuse the website, interfere with its operation, submit malicious code, attempt unauthorized access, impersonate others, submit fraudulent applications, or use the website in a way that harms the organization or other users.

The organization does not guarantee that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at all times.

Electronic Communications

By submitting an application, applicants consent to receive communications from The Next Chapter Collective regarding the application, program participation, scheduling, follow-up, or related organizational matters.

Communications may occur by email, phone, text message, website form, or other contact information provided by the applicant.

Applicants are responsible for providing accurate contact information and checking communications in a timely manner.

Recordkeeping and Data Retention

The Next Chapter Collective may retain application materials, communication records, grant records, media releases, consent forms, internal notes, and related documents for administrative, legal, accounting, audit, impact reporting, and program management purposes.

The organization may determine retention periods based on operational needs, legal requirements, grant requirements, donor reporting, or board policy.

Intellectual Property

All website content, logos, graphics, photographs, written materials, program names, forms, policies, branding, and original content created by The Next Chapter Collective remain the property of the organization unless otherwise stated.

Applicants and recipients may not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, modify, or use The Next Chapter Collective’s intellectual property for commercial or unauthorized purposes.

Severability

If any portion of these policies is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be interpreted as closely as possible to its original intent while remaining enforceable under applicable law.

No Waiver

Failure by The Next Chapter Collective to enforce any provision of these policies does not constitute a waiver of the organization’s right to enforce that provision later.

Any waiver must be made in writing by an authorized representative of the organization.

Governing Law

These policies shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute relating to these policies, the application process, or the Wardrobe Grant Program shall be handled in accordance with applicable North Carolina law.

Applicant Certification

By submitting an application, the applicant certifies and agrees that:

I understand that The Next Chapter Collective has sole discretion to approve, deny, defer, or waitlist applications.

I certify that the information I provide is truthful, accurate, and complete to the best of my knowledge.

I understand that wardrobe grants may include new, like-new, donated, or gently loved items.

I understand that wardrobe grants have no cash value and may not be exchanged for money, gift cards, store credit, or other monetary substitutes.

I understand that item selection, grant value, sizing, timing, and availability are determined by The Next Chapter Collective.

I understand that my name, image, story, photograph, video, or identifying information will not be publicly shared without my separate written permission.

I understand that declining media participation will not affect my eligibility.

I agree to participate respectfully and comply with these policies.
